i want to be a flasher
Not take off my clothes or anything - it's too bloody cold out for that right this minute, but do sexy things with websites. That damned action script will be the cause of many sleepless nights, not to mention the debugging dilemmas...
I thought it would be genious to put a flashed portfolio together, but did not realize the horrendous amount of hours and costs it entails:
•Acquiring Flash MX off of your x-officemate: $0.00
•Flash MX H.O.T. and Flash MX 2004 Savvy books: $90.00
•Seeing the one red dot in your movie pulsating, bug-free: priceless
P.S. You need Mozilla/Firefox to view the clip. Sorry I.E. fans, I'm not that far into scripting yet. Actually, it does work, it's the Active-X schmactive-x settings that may prevent it from loading.
Speaking of cold weather, it has been so far, the coldest day of the year today. 12ºF, 0º windchill factor, which, to those of you living devoid of freezing windchill factors, equals a numb face with an immovable mouth after a 4 minute walk, which I had to do because today of all days, I had to go to downtown NYC. Reminds me of body numbing, am-I-dead-yet? Boston winters. BRRRRR! Crank up the heat yo!

the end is bittersweet
Well, here we are. The end of the project that was all at once bitter, outrageous, difficult and at last, a great achievement in that it is the first time 80 years of printed magazines have been electronically archived with HP-invented software, and will be followed by a great marketing campaign including full page ads in USA Today, CNN coverage, and whatever else $200 million will cover.
Here stand/sit the remains of what was at one point, a staff of 200 people. Oh, the disarray, the hiring and firing, the motley collection of people that came together for this project - it would span a hundred stories.
Our consolation: we were part of this history, and we lived through it!
